The Lands of Ewlah

The colonisation of Ewlah over the past eight centuries has largely been free of conflict and war - with a few notable exceptions - compared to pre-Disaster Falah, or Cheidrah prior to the signing of the Grand Treaty. This is possibly due to the fact that different Societies colonised different areas of the continent. The political structures that the colonists brought with them have also tended to be (on the whole) more democratic than autocratic.

The Land system shown below is quite malleable: many of the borders are not fixed; and within those borders some Lands are more decentralised than others - for instance in the Land of Cantage each of the larger cities mints its own coinage and the inter-settlement political structures are based on mutual cooperation rather than a centralised body of law.

More details on the seven Societies and individual Lands can be found in the Lands of Ewlah section of this Encyclopaedia - including a discussion on the definition of a 'Land'.
